Product Overview:

• Losap 50 mg Tablet contains Losartan Potassium, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to manage hypertension, reduce stroke risk, and protect kidney function in type 2 diabetes.

Mechanism of Action:

• Losartan Potassium selectively blocks the effects of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels, thereby relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure.

Dosage and Administration:

• The usual starting dose for adults with hypertension is 50 mg once daily. If the antihypertensive effect using 50 mg once daily is inadequate, 25 mg twice daily is recommended prior to increasing the dose. For patients with intravascular volume-depletion (e.g., those treated with high-dose diuretics), a starting dose of 25 mg once daily should be considered.
