Mechanism of Action (MOA):

• Losartan, the active ingredient in Repace, inhibits the action of angiotensin II by blocking its receptors. This leads to vasodilation, reduced secretion of aldosterone, and decreased blood pressure, thereby improving blood flow and reducing the risk of stroke.

Dosage and Administration:

• The typical starting dose is 50 mg once daily. Depending on individual response and medical condition, the dosage may be adjusted, with a usual maintenance dose ranging from 50 mg to 100 mg per day, administered once or divided into two doses.
• It’s essential to follow your healthcare provider’s instructions regarding dosage adjustments.

Side Effects:

• Common side effects may include dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when rising from a sitting or lying position.
• Other possible side effects are increased potassium levels, changes in kidney function, and low blood pressure.

Drug Interactions:

• Concurrent use with potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, or salt substitutes containing potassium may lead to hyperkalemia (elevated potassium levels).
