Telsartan AM

Mechanism of Action (MOA):

• Telmisartan: An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by inhibiting the effects of angiotensin II, leading to reduced blood pressure.
• Amlodipine: A calcium channel blocker that dilates blood vessels by inhibiting calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle, resulting in decreased peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure.

Dosage and Administration:

• The recommended dosage is one tablet (Telmisartan 40 mg + Amlodipine 5 mg) taken orally once daily, with or without food.
• It’s essential to take the medication at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood pressure control.

Side Effects:

• Common side effects may include sleepiness, ankle swelling, headache, dizziness, tiredness, upset stomach, peripheral edema, and a sudden decrease in blood pressure.
• If any severe or persistent side effects occur, consult a healthcare professional promptly.

Drug Interactions:

• Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking, as Telsartan AM may interact with other blood pressure-lowering drugs, potassium supplements, and salt substitutes containing potassium.
