Mechanism of Action (MOA):

• Nitroglycerin is converted to nitric oxide in the body, leading to the relaxation of vascular smooth muscles. This vasodilation reduces myocardial oxygen demand by decreasing preload and afterload, thereby alleviating angina symptoms.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: One 2.6 mg controlled-release tablet taken orally twice daily, typically in the morning and evening.
• Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water on an empty stomach; do not crush or chew.

Side Effects:

• Common side effects may include:
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Flushing
  • Hypotension

Drug Interactions:

• Concomitant use with phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil) is contraindicated due to the risk of severe hypotension.

• Concurrent use with alcohol can cause additive blood pressure-lowering effects.
