Mechanism of Action (MOA): Rabeprazole Sodium inhibits the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase enzyme system (proton pump) in the gastric parietal cells, leading to suppression of gastric acid secretion.

Dosage and Administration:
- Acidity and GERD: 20 mg orally once daily for 4 to 8 weeks; an additional 8-week course may be considered if necessary.
- Peptic Ulcer Disease: 20 mg orally once daily after the morning meal for 4 weeks; some patients may require additional therapy.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Starting dose of 60 mg orally once daily; doses up to 100 mg once daily or 60 mg twice daily have been administered.

Side Effects:
- Common: Headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting.
- Serious: Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, osteoporosis-related fractures, hypomagnesemia.

Drug Interactions:
- Drugs Dependent on Gastric pH: May affect absorption of drugs like digoxin (increased plasma levels) and ketoconazole (decreased concentrations).

- Hypersensitivity: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rabeprazole or substituted benzimidazoles.
- Long-term Use: May be associated with an increased risk of osteoporosis-related fractures and hypomagnesemia; monitor as necessary.
