Mechanism of Action:

Tretinoin, a derivative of vitamin A, works by promoting the turnover of follicular epithelial cells. This process helps in extruding existing comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) and prevents the formation of new ones. Additionally, tretinoin thins the stratum corneum (outermost layer of the skin), leading to smoother skin texture.

Usage Instructions:

1. Cleansing: Gently wash your face with a mild, non-medicated cleanser and pat the skin dry.
2. Waiting Period: Allow the skin to dry for 20 to 30 minutes before application.
3. Application: Apply a small amount (approximately a pea-sized or ¼ inch diameter) of Retiderm 0.025% Gel to the affected areas once daily, preferably at bedtime.

Precautions:

• Sun Exposure: Tretinoin increases skin sensitivity to sunlight. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors.
• Skin Care Products: Avoid using products that can cause irritation, such as harsh soaps, shampoos, hair dyes, and products containing alcohol or astringents.
• Concurrent Acne Treatments: Consult your healthcare provider before using other topical acne treatments alongside tretinoin.

Possible Side Effects:

• Common: Redness, dryness, peeling, itching, and a sensation of warmth or stinging at the application site.
• Note: These side effects often diminish as the skin adjusts to the medication. If they persist or worsen, consult your healthcare provider.

Contraindications:

• Individuals with eczema or those who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid using tretinoin.
